Looking to find a basic police dispatcher training course. I've looked at APCO and Powerphone, but neither are offering courses in this area in the near future. Anyone aware of any local companies that offer this? Thanks for any help.

Thats EMD

Emergency Medical Dispatch.

To the Origional Poster:
Contact SETB. They are always holding "dispatch academies" that contain the police-specific APCO dispatch class. You may be able to sign up for just that part of the 4-week program.

checkwww.ma911.org every now and then, they will announce the next dispatch academy dates which i believe will be sometime this fall. that is an excellent course.
i went through it in april of 2004. there you will receive an apco police course, an apco fire course, 911 certifictation, emd certfication, and a couple of classes on case law. there are excellent instructors and guess speakers who offer some excellent experience. also apco is the best training you can get, very simple and straight to the point. you will also get to meet some of your fellow dispatchers from surrounding towns and get an idea of how other towns are run compared to yours. i highly recommend it. it lasts about four to five weeks.

APCO might offer that class on line as well. That would elminate the location issue.
