I did a forum a while back about digital radios just asking what the differences were between digital and analog radios. But I was wondering how does every one like the digital radios we should have ours 800 megahertz project done by the end of the month. So what does every one think? Are they worth it? I cant wait to try ours.

If youre in the mountains, which I doubt you are since you already are on the 800 band. it will be spotty. The thing with digital is you cant listen through the static to hear a distant station, its either there or not.

I just got issued a new fancy digital portable radio. A week afterwards,I went hoofing it after a dude in a downtown section of a town I patrol, and to my shagrin IT DIDNT WORK. Then I had a similar problem in another town where I needed a radio in a hurry, and it failed me. I've noticed it only works in about 35-40% of the area I work at. I guess location is everything with digital.

Yeah I dont know any thing about digital but I guess are chief is awaiting approvals for antennae that would transmit radio signals from the north, south and central parts of town, connecting police, EMS, the Office of Emergency Management, fire and town departments. I dont know if that would make it so there werent any dead spots or what. So I guess i'll have to wait and see.
