Last Friday my future Brother-in-law and I went exploring at the Defunct Lincoln Park in No. Dartmouth, RI.

Enough of that junk and more of the girl in your avatar

To bad I didn't know you were coming down to Lincoln Park, I would have met you and said hello.
I live about 4 miles from there off rt 177 east.
Another tidbit about the Comet the new owners of the property are talking about cutting it up into small pieces and selling them as memorabilia.

Cool pics GMACK!
I love pics of old, defunct places like that. Old state hospitals, asylums, jails etc.
It's creepy, but theres something about it that inspires my curiosity.

Thanks for the shots!

Kozmo, if you want creepy you should see the photos of the old Met State in Waltham on one of those urban explorer websites. Recently I had to do an interior search of one of the buildings there as its now owned by the city and us Waltham Auxiliaries have to check them ( we were in the building due to us finding an open door ). Because its all boarded up, its pitch black in there, and vandals have pretty much smashed the place up. After we were done checking the place, it took us a while to get back out since we forgot the way we came in and both my flashlight and back-up light died on me. Fortunately we found another open door.

Wiggum - that had to be an incredible experience! (Hope you had a change of drawers..)
One of my grandfathers spent time in the Tewksbury State Hospital before he died back in the mid-70's. I cant get the imagery (or smell) of that place out of my head to this day. And that place was fully functional at the time! I cant imagine what the Met must be like; light-less and hollow... There was a special on a month or so ago (I think the History channel) about an old TB infirmary from the turn of the century. They swore the place was haunted by specters of old patients. I think that kind of stuff incredibly interesting.

OK
Folks Back to the Original Subject.

I have decided to ZIP all of my pictures from the Lincoln Park trip.

Please enjoy and I would appreciate any comments / suggestions / etc.

Thanks !

That reminds me of that indie movie they made over in Danvers State Hospital.. how in the tunnel all the lights turned off.. It was actually a good low budget movie... if I can only remember the name of it.

Is that to imply Whalom is defunct? Say it ain't so Joe...

I'm with you Koz. I love these old kinds of places. So much history and nostalgia. Northampton State Hospital is very strange and dark inside but it makes me wonder about all the people who suffered there everytime I drive through. I have yet to find the old cemetery.

Before it repeatedly "caught fire" Mountain Park was an abandoned old amusement park. Many a day spent there as a kid too.
