I just bought a glock23 today for off duty carry, so far im happy with it but I still prefer a glock27 for off duty carry, anyway the guy at the shop tried to sell me a brand new DPMS ar15 with the adjustable stock. He told me that he ordered 6 DPMS ar15 from the distributor and they sent him the one with the adjustable stock. He told me that the AR15 with the adjustable stock supposed to be illegal but somehow these ar15s are legally registered to Mass becuase the distributor sent him the ar15 with the adjustable stock. My question is, if I purchased one of these AR15 with the adjustable stock, would that be a violation? I was told that the AG and MGH made it a felony to have the adjustable stock. Is the DPMS better than Bushmaster?

SOT II can back me up here...............

If that dealer wants to sell you the AR-15 with collapsable stock, HE is the one not in compliance. Technically speaking, he's in hot water, not you. Many dealers are selling Non-compliant rifles and pistols to LEO's who show any kind of I.D. card. That's the dealer making the mistake, not the purchaser.

I'm certain that to legally purchase non-compliant guns, you're SUPPOSED to purchase them through your department on letterhead, regardless of Duty or off-duty use, etc........

P.S. I prefer the Bushmaster, but with all these manufacturers meeting milspec waht's the big difference in the end? probably not much.

As MPD61 states, it's his ass if he sells it to you. Granted when the FA-10 goes through...and if anyone ever checks it, you may have to give it back and sue the guy for the cash. I'm not really sure they would even consider gigging you for possestion of a SAW as it was bought in good faith from a dealer who should know better.

We can get any non compliant AR15 we need. With the express understanding that we won't sell it in MA, or that if we do it's to an agency or a dealer who will not sell it in MA.

Side note:
It's funny if you check the heritage of many of the glocks for sale, most are not from MA...this at some point will be a problem also.

Hmmmmm my AR has an adjustable stock....... I never knew it was unlawful... Anyways I'd get a Rock River AR-15. Colt recently lost their contract to Rock RIver, they make good guns. Besides - it's always good for a compliment at the range from the Colt guys...

That whole colt thing was a disaster from the get go.
It had more to do with bankruptcy and the state of CT bailing them out than anything else.
Colt would have gone out of business, but the state stepped in and part of the negotiation was that Colt wouldn't sell "assault rifles" to civilians anymore....(real short version).
Hence the sporter ala sporting purposes ala AWB and the draconian state of CT.
