Got an interview coming up with their "Safety Department" for some PT work, anyone got the inside scoop on what the deal is. Job description says requires LTC or FID and must be able to be appointed as Fall River Constable. I am wondering if they are special police or security. Any help would be great.

Thanks

From what I have heard from a couple of guys currently on staff there, they are certainly a progressive group striving to build a solid reputation. One of the nice things about the position, depending upon which one you are interviewing for (there are 2 classifications within this particular department), is that the Public Safety Director sponsors the officers through a "Reserve Intermittent Academy". On the flip side of this however, is that while a LTC is required for the job, the Public Safety Director currently does not allow anyone to carry a firearm.
To further answer your question, the officers onboard while on the property are viewed as, and have the same powers of arrest as your local Police Officers. Thus, I would consider them to be "Special Police Officers", as opposed to "Security Guards".
Best of luck to you!

YEa Im a little sketchy myself about Caritas Hospital's security requirements, Ive looked into their SEMC in Brighton and the job req is ability to be appointed a special officer, but I remeber hearing Boston does not give special status out anymore to non-corporate places. ABout the LTC from what Ive been told alot of places have that as a req because it is a good backup to a background check. stop and think of all the things that can disqualify you from owning a gun such as psych-hospitalizations that wouldn't necessarily show up on a CORI. If you can get a LTC then its a good indicator that you have a pretty clear background and this background check is on our tab not theirs

I have the patch from St. Annes and it says St. Annes Police. I heard its not bad over there but the pay isnt that great. But experience is whats get you there. I believe they are Fall River Constables for their powers of arrest.

ST. E's in Brighton are SSPO's.

I received a call a few weeks ago from them for a interview and was informed that the pay was only about $12 hr. over the phone, and had to turn it down.
