Dealing With Out of Shape Spouses

Even Police Officers have overweight spouses, and feel the same frustrations that many wives and husbands do when they have to deal with the issue for a long time. It seems on these forums everyone gets all defensive, when the person worried about the issue is not the person that has let themselves go. I started www.myfatspouse.com as a way for spouses to deal with the issue or at least share there frustration and find others who feel the same way.

I believe the primary reason we can't talk on forums like this about the subject is those that don't want to be questioned intentionally flame and raise heck because they don't want to deal with the subject, or be approached with it.

I dunno, seems simple to me.

"Lose weight or I am leaving"

"No"

"Bye"

Simple.

Why wouldn't anyone get defensive about that? It's superficial. So relationships with a spouse should be based only on looks? What exactly is "fat?" Twenty pounds overweight, or like a 700 lbs. cellulite factory that can only leave the house by crane?

It's not about looks, it's about being healthy.

It is?

This is their slogan at the top of the web page: "It Is Disrespectful To Become Unattractive To Your Life Partner."

I prefer to think of it as two people who have grown older, each with their own set of priorities. Where one may choose to accept extra pounds as part of growing older, the other may wish to fight the process. Not deciding who is right and who is wrong, to me it just indicates that perhaps the two are no longer compatible. Or maybe, just maybe, they were never that much in love in the first place.

Whatever the case may be, if you are that unhappy with your partner, it is time to move on. No one is doing anyone a favor by staying in a miserable relationship.

why not just treat her like a car and trade her in for a newer, sleaker model.
