I was wondering, do the State Police allow civilian ride-alongs? I've wanted to go on one with the State to see what it's like. I've been on many ride-alongs in my town with a Sargent i know as well as in Washington D.C. with the Metro Police and in Fairfax County, Virgina as part of classes for my justice degree. I am going to try and get into LE when i graduate so this is legitimate. So do you guys do them? How would I go about applying for one? The nearest barracks to me is the one in Concord, and I live really close. Do I just call them up and ask? Or do I call HQ in Framingham? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would call GHQ in Framingham and inquire. I remember back when I was an intern (2 years ago) that the troop's HQ approved me going along in a marked cruiser...might as well start at the top and find out, then have someone lower on the pole have to ask, then their boss has to ask thier boss, etc.
I have noticed ride alongs aren't as common on this job as others. I did a few with my home town when I was in high school and college, it was like a night at Disneyworld. Walpole PD knows how to work!

Just chill wit' Mikey. He'll show you how to pimp out an MSP Cruiser and work the mean streets of Pittsfield and negotiate winding roads in boonie towns at a high rate of speed. His proper title is "Trooper", but he better known as "Q-tip the Pimpy Po-Po".
