Main Page Study techniques

Aside from who is better than who when it comes to supplying us with materials, what study techniques do guys find work best for them? I am a huge fan of recording the lectures I attend and then listening to them constantly. I have a small tape player with a speaker built into it that I have velcroed onto the top of my cruisers Code 3 box.
What else works for guys?

I like the study guides. The exam format really helps me learn the material. I bought Rogers and Hanrahan's. Hanrahan's seem to be much better. They are more like the actual exam. Roger's are sloppy and the answers jump out at you. Scheft put one out too but I heard it sucks.

Study techniques for CS promotional exams? That's easy. Get a note from Dr. Summeroff and see you in September!

I find the best way to study is by using removing the BS from the book and focusing on the testable areas. I used to write an outline kind of like scheft's blue book. I actually tried the blue book before but I found it not as helpful as writing it out myself (I also found a lot of errors in the blue book). This time I tried to write out notecards but it was taking for ever so I picked up some of Hanrahan's flash cards what a time saver but I also found a couple errors in his stuff too but not nearly as many as Roger's material. I guess these guys have to pump this stuff out so quick there are bound to be some mistakes. So I would say the best is to write it yourself - or pick up some study material and double check everything.

I am also a big fan of studying the text books themselves and not necessarily just hitting the condensed outlines.
By the way, you see HRD has updated the Sgt/Lt reading list? 3 new '05/'06 editions of CP, PA and CI. 2001 Iannone is the only one that won't need to be replaced. Bastards!

There really has to be a better way. I really think that the CP book is used because it's the only thing out there on community policing. PA and CI are just okay for a management books and Iannone is just obsolete - you can just see the 60's-70's mentallity throughout the book. Didn't Bostons list have One Minute Manager and Dr. Gilmartin's book? These would be a lot better than Iannone.

I know they added the 1 Minute Mngr, which is only about a 100 page book and takes an afternoon to learn (schedule time to sneak around to catch your employees doing something right, tell them how their actions make you feel, etc).
I know everyone hates Iannone but I find it easier to memorize and was relieved to see so many questions from his book on the last test.
