I am 22 yrs old graduating from college in one yr with a degree hospitality management. I am not very interested in working with anytihng pertaining to my degree.

After signing up on this board and reading some i've learned quite a bit. My goal is to become a police officer. I now realize this is not very likely anytime after graduation...atleast in MA.

I took the correction officer 1 exam about a yr and a half ago and did very well. I receievd two cards to go for interviews. I never did and do regret it.

I was arrested for possession of a class D drug when i was 18 and got continuance without a finding. Does this eliminate me from a job in corrections?

What should I be doing in the meantime and after graduation if I want to work in the field of corrections or LE? I know it's quite a few questions but im really just overwhelmed... thanks in advance

It may. CWOF s may be viewed as a guilty plea in the eyes of a BI and, according to MGL'S this is a nogo. Call an attorney.

i found this on the web....not sure if it makes a difference..

"Agreeing to a continuance without a finding may help you in cases where a finding of guilty would cause you problems in your career or educational opportunities. Some job applications ask you if you've ever been found guilty of a crime, and you can honestly answer "no". A guilty plea vs. a cwof may make a difference for certain law enforcement careers, security clearances, the right to own certain firearms, eligibility for certain scholarships or financial aid, or many other reasons.

A CWOF will not make any difference vs. a guilty plea if you are found guilty of the same offense in the future. It will stay on your record, and will absolutely be used against you in the future if you are charged with a second offense. "
