Hi everyone, I'm new to this and I just wanted to say hello and had a few questions I would like to ask. I'm 21 and I'm just starting to get my foot in the door for law enforcement and really want to try out for the MSP. It has been my childhood dream to be one, but when I got into high school I socialized with kids that liked cars and I enjoyed it also, so I went to major in that and didn't like it for a full-time job. So I've been working with my father since then in a aluminum and bronze foundry. As of now I'm starting to pursue my dream into law enforcement. I volunteer as an auxiliary police officer for my city and love it very much. I really want to join MSP, does any one have any pointers for me? What does the entrance exam consists of? Also how are the recruits picked? Sorry for the long message, I won't leave one like this again. But if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much for your time and sorry again for the long message.

You must take a test and score high, there is no such thing as a try out.

You don't join you are selected.

A must! Clean driving record helps too.

Basically, stay out of trouble and take the next exam. Try to score well on the exam, the process is competitive.

Hey thank you guys for taking time and putting in your information. Sorry to word my message wrong by saying TRY. I know thats a big no no from the posts I read. Also the join, I know you are selected from the list, I just wanted to get my facts straight. You hear so many things on joining the police force like you got to know someone and so on. My driving record is clean just 1 speeding ticket when I first got my license about 5 years ago. The only thing my friends and I do is build them for show or trailer them to the drag strip in NH. So everything is safe and legal.

"When and if" you try to get on, good luck. Remember, if you can't meet any standards, you can always get an attorney and go to court.

Keep your nose out of trouble and take every test that you possibly can. You may get on another job that will get you experience that they may want. Also you get a feel for how the tests are designed and what you should do to get better. Take some seminars on the tests also. They usually give good study tips....

Muscle, the last post is probably the best advice, I have been trying for yrs to become a cop. I am a former marine c.o. clean record, driving...etc. I would have thought that I would be a shoe-in. Not so...There are ALOT of politics and adversity to go through. Expect it. Nothing is fair..life isn't fair. Just take every test you can and stay clean..The road to MSP may be a town job first. Oh sorry... I have been hired by a small nh town....cue the banjos. lol Good Luck.
