Flag Waivers coming?

Are flag waivers coming to Mass.? I have heard that many politicians are pushing for these useless individuals.

not with out a huge fight from all the police unions

Flaggers are only useful on one way dead end streets in the middle of no where. What a joke... The same assclowns you see working at Wal-Mart "safely" directing traffic.

I spoke with one who was getting $45/hour because he was union....but they'll be much cheaper and just as effective

Maybe you should forward his info and company to the rag papers in Massachusetts and left wing research organizations that come out with their groundbreaking studies every year. Bet they would not even touch the fact that a flag waving fool is making more than the police...

Not only does the flagman make more, but you get less for your buck. Pay a cop $35-45 a hour and you get police presence, a first responder AND someone who can enforce laws. Oh, and did I forget someone who usually has vast experience dealing with traffic and traffic patterns. Maybe the flagman does receive training, but you can't replace most of the above. How many of us had made various pinches or traffic cites and never even left the detail? It happens everyday. Can you put a price tag on that? We won't even get into the workmen's comp or liability insurance the flagman would require. Is it a savings??

To answer the specific topic question.........who knows?? Every few years there seems to be a big push by a few in the legislature. Keep this in mind though. When my father came on in 1971 they were talking about the same thing (they only made $4.75/hr) and they'll keep talking about it forever.

Waivers....??

Right, Mitpo...I think they mean "wavers"...unless they are referring to "waiving" the police presence at job sites!

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Maybe if the pay would go up to what should be spent for someone who wears body armor 60 hours a week and risks his life to save the same people who want to pay cops less money to do it, then they can have there detail flagmen...But dont be calling 911 when of those pimple faced dumbasses gets punched in the mouth by some soccer mom pissed off she can't make it to her manicure on time because of construction.

That's good to know. We lose this perk and there goes my 3500 square foot house, two Volvos and boat. Life would not be the same.......

It will not happen, unions too powerful, stop spreading rumors dirtbag.

Posted by: DPD6860

You tell him, j089. I need details to pay for the stangs.

Posted by: j809

I haven't even made my first payment on the Roush yet!

I worked for a state that used flag waivers. Not a safe thing. They hold double mounted signs that say on one side STOP and on the other SLOW. Motorists would speed by the detail and not pay any attention to the work going on around or the on-comming traffic. To much liability in Mass. The public will outcry when a serious crash occurs during a detail when a flag holder is running that detail. People will say " Where were the police".
