Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police (massfop.org) Presents a Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament to benefit the Jaclyn Wilton-Martinale's Cancer Care Fund

Jaclyn Wilton-Martindale is a 28-year old Pontiac, Michigan Police Detective who is married with two small children. She has been on the job with the Pontiac Police Department for seven and a half years.

In 2004 Jaclyn was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had two malignant tumors removed followed by treatment.

In January 2006, Jaclyn was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma (cancer of the skull) and endured a 6-hour surgery to remove the cancerous tumor from her skull where it had displaced her carotid artery. While her surgeon is optimistic that all of the cancer was removed, without Proton Beam Radiation therapy the cancer will return.

Jaclyn will be traveling to Boston to receive this treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital where she will undergo 8-weeks of treatment to destroy any remaining cancer cells. She is presently battling with her insurance provider and it is unsure if any of these treatments will be covered.

The Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police was contacted by our FOP brothers in Michigan who requested help from the "Thin Blue Line" in Massachusetts. The Massachusetts FOP has arranged to house Jaclyn and any of her family members in the city during her 8-weeks of chemotherapy. The Boston Police has graciously agreed to help with transportation to and from her treatments.

Back in Michigan, Jaclyn's family and co-workers have been holding many fundraisers to help Jaclyn and her family financially survive this ordeal. The Massachusetts FOP is planning a fundraiser on Monday May 22nd at the Outlaw BBQ located on Rt. 1 in Foxboro, MA. (just south of Gillette Stadium) We will be holding a Texas Hold'em Tournament and Pig Roast. We are planning on having a live band and raffles for all of those non-playing supporters that plan to join us. For those members of our Law Enforcement family that can't join us we are asking that your association consider a donation to be made to the "Jaclyn Wilton-Martindale's Fund". All donations will be acknowledged at the function with a supporters display. All funds collected will go directly to Jaclyn's Fund and all monies not used for Jaclyn's care will be donated back to cancer research. Please post the attached flyer about our upcoming fundraising event for Jaclyn. For more information about Jaclyn and her cause please check out www.jaclynfightscancer.org

Please come join us on the 22nd at the Outlaw BBQ and help us show Jaclyn and her family just how strong the "brotherhood" is in Massachusetts. No matter what your rank, agency or union affiliation is, this is a good cause to get behind to help one of our own.
