San Diego Chargers lineman Shaun Phillips was free on $10,000 bail Friday after being arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest during an apparent domestic disturbance on a downtown sidewalk, police said.

Officers responding to a disturbance call at about 2 a.m. at 770 Fifth Ave. found Phillips with his arm around a woman, who appeared to be in distress, said Gary Hassen of the San Diego Police Department.

Phillips, 25, allegedly began fighting with officers and was eventually taken into custody, Hassen said.

He was booked on suspicion of resisting arrest and was freed after posting $10,000 bail, said Dave Cohen of the SDPD.

Phillips, a New Jersey native, was drafted out of Purdue University and joined the Chargers in 2004. He is listed by the team as a defensive end.

WTF is that? Either he was or he wasn't resisting. Where's the "suspicion"?
