BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MICH. (2006-04-06) A ROYAL OAK MAN CONVICTED OF
DRUNKEN DRIVING IN A CRASH THAT KILLED A POLICE OFFICER HAS SUED A
DETROIT SUBURB FOR HIS OWN INJURIES.
THE 2004 CRASH OCCURRED MOMENTS AFTER OFFICER GARY DAVIS FROM
OAKLAND COUNTY'S BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP ARRESTED A DRUNKEN DRIVING
SUSPECT ON INTERSTATE 75 IN TROY.
JOSHUA CAMPBELL'S CAR STRUCK DAVIS'S PATROL CAR, KILLING DAVIS
AND SERIOUSLY INJURING HIS PRISONER.
AUTHORITIES SAY CAMPBELL HAD TWICE THE LEVEL OF BLOOD ALCOHOL
FOR DRUNKENNESS IN MICHIGAN.
A JURY ACQUITTED CAMPBELL OF SECOND-DEGREE MURDER, SAYING DAVIS
CONTRIBUTED TO THE CRASH.
IT CONVICTED CAMPBELL OF DRUNKEN DRIVING, AND HE GOT A 93-DAY
JAIL SENTENCE.
