Hey all. I submitted my application to the Southbridge, MA PD just this morning. I'm really looking forward to using this opportunity as a stepping stone. Later on down the road, I'll be going to the Boylston Academy. I just think joining the Auxiliary would be a great way to get my foot in the door. I'm looking forward to Officer Rossi's call back.. Crossing my fingers here.. I just had a few questions if anyone here is familiar with the Southbridge Auxiliary Police... Are they able to make arrests? Do they cary a Fire Arm, do they pepper spray you even if it is just Auxiliary, and do you receive a standard Police Car while you're working. Sorry for all the questions.. I'm just really exicted about all of this. Also, if anyone here is a Southbridge, MA Reserve or you know someone who is that I could talk to directly, that would be awesome! Thanks

Eh, I'm not positive, but Part Time /Reserve, and Auxiliry are two very different things. Auxilary basically work traffic control during the early mourning sunday church rush. Part timers are police officers, can work shifts, details, etc. Feel free anyone to correct me if i am wrong.

One of my friends relatives was a Southbridge Police Auxillary. I was about 16 years old at the time, and I distinctly remember this relative carrying a gun in uniform, etc. As far as I know most Auxillary Depts. in Central MA are armed. Its when you hit towns like Newton, and Westwood where the Auxillaries are unarmed and only carry pepper spray.

Usually when an Aux. unit carries a firearm, they are also Specials with powers when on duty.
