BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox logo will appear on a new instant lottery ticket under an agreement announced Monday with the state lottery and a lottery contractor.
The Red Sox are the first Major League Baseball team to reach such a deal after a recent agreement by the MLB to allow use of team logos on instant lottery tickets. The league reached the deal with the licensing subsidiary of Scientific Games Ventures, which produces instant tickets for the Massachusetts Lottery.
Red Sox Instant Tickets will be sold beginning April 11 for $5 apiece at the lottery's 7,600 licensed retailers.
The game will offer a mix of immediate cash prizes and opportunities to win "Fenway Fantasy Prizes," including a grand prize of a pair of Red Sox season tickets for life. Other enticements include 10 $1 million prizes as well as Red Sox tickets, merchandise and trips.
The Red Sox will receive no revenue from the lottery from sales of the instant tickets. Lottery proceeds support the state's 351 cities and towns.
"The Red Sox goal is to continue a corporate partnership with the Massachusetts Lottery that has already benefited us as well as citizens across the commonwealth," Larry Lucchino, the Red Sox' president and CEO, said in a news release.

Just think, 1 more World Series, and a scratch ticket will be the ONLY way you can get a ticket to the game.
