EQUAL OPPORTUNITY/AFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYER

Ive noticed a lot of openings there in the last year, what with that place?

It seems to be a squared away department, my money says people are going to the state or citites/towns.

It has been my experience ( I worked for them when I was a student there) that they always hire one or two every couple years. Either from the school allowing more manpower, or like previously stated they have a turnover. Overall, I have nothing but good things to say about them, with 24,000 students plus faculty, staff and the assorted people that go on to the campus everyday, they get to deal with a lot out there at the zoo.

I have heard the hirings have a lot to do with Umass being labeled one of the most violent colleges in the country. The college wants to change that by hiring more officers. Not sure if this is true but its what I have been told.

I have worked with this department on several occasions: they are top flight professionals: their stuff is highly organized. If you want to "cruise", this is not the department for you. These people are serious...they are cops hampered by a college mentality...make no mistake: they are the police. period.

My department helps to assuage the interference by their "collegiate leaders"...the truth will out.
