I will be taking the exam for the Weston Pd on 4/2, can anyone tell me about this department.. I know the community is a wealthy one, but am looking for info on the department its self. Are they pro or re active, how large is the dept, are they up to date with there equipment and what they have for equipment, any special units and finally pay.

They are VERY proactive. If I remember correctly, they run 4 guys on the road per shift. Good equipment, good Chief.

Zagami?

You get a check for $50000 from the association when you retire, that is right now, who knows what it will be in 25 years, very good PD, but different style of policing. Don't go in there with same attitude as you would in a larger city or middle class community.

Yeah, they experienced this sometime ago when they hired a guy from LAPD. A bit of a shock for all. But a great PD.

Be careful who you bad mouth. Going from a department like LAPD to Weston is a bit of a change. You can't just turn off being a big city cop. It is a major adjustment.

I didn't bad mouth anyone. I merely acknowledged what j809 said:

I know Weston hired an LAPD guy and like I said it was an adjustment. He's still there and I hear he's a great cop.

Irishlacop LAPD is the balls, I dont think RPD was bad mouthing LAPD. Here in Mass we envy you guys and what you can do. In Mass we have to be a little more PC to fit into our liberal way of life.

The way that I read that post was that you were bad mouthing the officer who came from LAPD. Saying that he brought his "big city" attitude with him to a town like Weston. I grew up in Weston and they should be happy to have someone on their department who has the training and experience that he brought with him. Weston is a good department and the officer is a good cop.

I hope no egos were hurt during this topic. Take care and be safe.

Weston's Chief is Shaw. A long time police officer and a real good guy.
