Advice to the 79th RTT

(Click here to view the original thread on the MassCops Message Board)

Posted by: Killjoy

It was suggested, and now it is here....first piece of advice....listen to everything said on this site!

Posted by: tazoez

LOL, I think that the first piece of advice that I saw for the 79th RTT was to stay off this site until they graduated.

Posted by: fscpd907

If your “top side” and late for a block of classroom instruction just use the tunnels it's much quicker than Rear Company Street.

Good Luck 79th RTT

Posted by: Patrick258

Do the troopers still yell and scream? I do not thing that is going to happen again... hmmmmmmmmm,, Good Luck.

Posted by: 94c

It has been announced that due to extreme heat and sweating in the gym, doo rags will be allowed.

Posted by: Killjoy

Coincidentally, Day 1 is also "Hawaiian Shirt Day". So wear your best floral print shirt Day 1! Also show up at 0759 on Day 1!

Posted by: Rock

At the end of your first week, Friday, be sure to pack all of your gear early to get a jump start. That way you can be a team player and help the others on deck.

Posted by: Dogma20001

Would it help if Isay had a major interest in looking at other guy's penises, or does that come naturally after the training.

Ummm.... there was a line... somewhere... and you just totally pole-vaulted over it...

Wow, umm I dont want to know where that came from.

Posted by: Wolfman

Be sure to bring your parents along so they can meet the DI's.

Posted by: Mikey682

Explain to everyone that you already went through this type of thing in the military, its no big deal.

Posted by: Patrick258

There is always one in the crowd....

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

Ask for a king size bed instead of the standard issue racks. If the DI's won't give you one, ask for AT LEAST another pillow. Bring a teddy bear. When a DI pisses you off, it's okay to give him ol' "What's this stain on your shirt..." joke. When he looks down to check it out, knock his cover off... I swear he'll pee his pants laughing.

Posted by: Patrick258

If the DI screaming is too much just raise your hand and tell them to use there inside voice...

Posted by: k9sheriff

Are they allowed to bring their sleeping bags with them?

Posted by: Dogma20001

Ask the DI's if they like gladiator movies. Or if they have ever been in a mens locker room. New meat

Dogma... seriously. No... Seeeeeeriously. What is with the gay tendencies??

Posted by: BT1405

^^ haha that one was from Airplane though

Posted by: Rock

After your first weekend home (if you make it that far) be sure to post everything that happened on this site. We're all looking forward to the stories.

Posted by: USMCTrooper

Make sure you speed up and down on town roads and the Pike since you're almost troopers anyway.......this weekly class thing is just a formality.

And if you do get pulled over make sure to tell them "I'm almost a trooper, can we move this process along." They love that.....

Posted by: Q5-TPR

Utilize the center stairs to go up to your deck, it saves time running between the buildings.

Posted by: MSP75

You can use the washer & dryer on your deck. You'll have less to pack on Friday.

Posted by: Killjoy

Hahahaha.....I remember that day......

Also, if your vehicle is not up to code, print out a fake inspection sticker, because they applaud intiative on the MSP!

The SPA is a real burden on the New Braintree water supply. Therefore, wait until lights out before flushing any of the toilets.

Posted by: USMCTrooper

Ask if they have an online version of the academy available to reduce the number of weeks you commute........or will the state reimburse you mileage?

Posted by: TPRSERG

Challenge Chief Churchill to a pushup competition! HAHAHAHA good luck!

Posted by: PVD24

Ask to go for a jog on Wine Road, its a much nicer road then the track around rear company street.

Posted by: mkpnt

When parked at the SPA, always leave your car unlocked. Don't worry the DI's respect your privacy.

Posted by: lofu

Make sure to look the DI's in the eyes when they are "speaking" to you.

Posted by: tazoez

When you are leaving or coming back to the academy, make sure that your windows are down and your music is up all the way. I'm sure that the DI's love to listen to different stuff.

Posted by: Rock

Remember..."personal time" at night it YOUR time. Don't let anyone tell you different. If you need to take a nap then you do it. If the SPA staff tries to tell you different be sure to stand up for yourself. They are looking for assertive, outgoing people.

Posted by: copcreamer

Start scaping off those MPA and blue line stickers. Replace with SPAM . . . gotta support your new team.

Posted by: Wolfman

Be sure to question the necessity of stress training. If you think it will harm your self-esteem let them know right away and they'll tone things down.

Posted by: USMCMP5811

If you get yelled at by the DI's, be sure to hold out your "Stress Card" while singing, Nah Nah Na Nah Nah, I can't hear you. The DI's will promptly stop yelling and give you more time to yourself.

Posted by: mkpnt

Don't bother making your bed, that's what they pay the maids for.

If you someone to tell you this, don't bother showing up on Day 1!

The troops already heard about "growin' up Gotti" at orientation

Posted by: sempergumby

hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaa

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

This is the best thread ever on Masscops...

Posted by: coppah914

On day one utilize a suite case with the handle and wheels so you dont half to carry your stuff to the gym.

Posted by: 94c

In week 6 you familiarize yourself with duty weapons. If you plan on carrying off-duty then bring your weapon of choice in order to qualify.

Posted by: mkpnt

In order to cutdown on stress they encourage you to bring your cellphone...so you can keep in touch with loved ones.

Posted by: Rock

The DI's are looking for your "attention to detail" so make sure you correct their grammer and let them know when their gig line is slightly off. Again, the key is to stand above the rest and SHINE!!!!

Posted by: tazoez

It is ok if there are scuff marks on your boots -- it shows the DI's that you are working hard while wearing them.

Don't forget to tell your loved ones that it is ok to call when ever also.

Posted by: 78thrifleman

When assigned a To/From letter as a disciplinary tool, be sure to include your thoughts and feelings and how the DI made YOU feel when he/she decided on this corrective action.

Also,if the red pen corrections on the TFL's hurt your self esteem, be sure to ask the DI's to use a different color ink.

Feel free to say "hey Im gonna sit this lap out and hit the showers"

Also, the number for the New Braintree Dominos is posted on each deck....their breadsticks are great!

Posted by: mkpnt

If your birthday happens to fall during your time at the SPA by all means tell your family to send you a cake.

Easy on the flushing of the toilet jokes! LOL

Posted by: Wolfman

If you're having a conversation with a classmate and a member of the staff comes up, it's okay to tell the staff member, "Hold on a minute, OK? I'm busy here."

Also, don't be afraid to go right on up to the CO if you have a question. He's there to help.

Posted by: Sgt Jack

Also remember to take desert the first day going thru the chow line the as you'll need that extra energy....

Posted by: Dogma20001

Yeah I am.
Sorry, kid...I hit the wrong button...I did not intend to edit your post.

Reckon you can sue me.

Posted by: SinePari

It helps if you turn your IPod all the way up when running around the track. That way you don't have to listen to all that yelling and screaming.

Posted by: dcs2244

If you don't like what they are serving for supper at the mess hall, just tell your DI...he'll let you drive into West Brookfield to pick up a pizza or grinder, and there is a new chinese place at Routes 9 and 67.

Posted by: tazoez

If you don't want to go through with the OC training, just tell your DI that it is unwanted abuse. He will understand.

Posted by: nirtallica

When the DIs hurricane the decks, send them a message. Go to their deck when they are at PT and dump salt in their wall lockers. Let them know how "salty" they are.

Posted by: USMCMP5811

When the DI's tear your sheets off your racks, it is the signal for the start of the Toga party

Posted by: copcop

Dont forget to ask the DI's if you can see the famous toilet...

Posted by: sempergumby

On Thursday Night you can request a blanket party to kick off the weekend. They love it when you ask for a blanket party.

Posted by: dcs2244

Nobody can say that there is no reason for "turning to" on the toilets on field day!

Posted by: mkpnt

Scuba gear is optional.

Posted by: Pvt. Cowboy

During defense tactics training... Go into a crane stance ala Karate Kid and show the DI that THIS is what they should be teaching...

Posted by: Killjoy

Ask to play "two sheets and a blanket"...it's a real hoot!

Posted by: tazoez

On the last day of EVOC, ask the DI's if you and your friends can see what the CVPI can really do by having a drag race. If you are the unlucky one that has to stand by and watch, Im sure the DI's wouldn't mind it if you were to take bets on which crusier will finish first.

Is anyone feeling any sorrow for what's going to happen to Dogma2001?

Dog...make sure you take lots of pictures your first day and send lots of postcards since your stay will be very short.

You should have listened to the advice written on this site over and over again...stay off this site

Honestly, No I don't.
Everyone was warned to stay away from this site if they were going in the 79th RTT.
I have no sympathy for people that can not take the best advice that was ever given seriously. And that is my .

Oh yeah, I should be packing it in real soon. My experience with boot camps is that the people who brag about how tough it is are the ones that barely made it through. And for some reason it becomes their whole reason of existence. "When I was in the academy"crap. The majority of people will tell you yeah it was hard but not that hard, just alot of yelling and running. I love it when people try to compare this to BUD'straining and the like. For alot of people this will be the toughest 6 months they ever had, for others, not even close. Either way, I'm going to get some beers tonight and to who ever is going on Monday, Good Luck, see you there. Talk to ya in 6 months.

Just remember these words when the DI's ask who is screen name Dogma2001"State Police Trainees are persons of integrity. They do not LIE, CHEAT, or STEAL. If you do not fess up and they find out BYE BYE. I hope the DOC takes you back. I doubt it though. Good luck in the unemployment line.

Dogma 20001 is a classic tough guy intenet talker. Just do us all a favor and let us know when your time at the SPA is done and why. Be half a man and come clean with the truth. Damn do I wish I could be a fly on the wall for your first few days.

Posted by: Dogma20001

Wow, one the the people I was talking about right there. Whole life is "I'm a State Trooper", doesn't get enough of it on the job, has to go to boards and preach about how special he is and how hard the academy is. It's like the people I work with that wear the "We Walk the toughest beat" DOC T-shirts every where. Your'e probably one of those troopers that says " I don't flash my badge to try to pick up girls" and I believe you, cause you are probably one of those guys that I see all the time wearing clothes with the State Police emblem somewhere on it whenever they are out in public. Joke.

Posted by: Mikey682

Posted by: Rock

Never said any of the things you just posted but that's fine tough guy. And your wrong about me flashing anything that says where I work...but that's fine too. My issue with you is that I've know a hundred guys like you that worked for the DOC or Jail and think they've seen it. Your talking smack about something you know NOTHING about. It's not my life but it is something I'm very proud of and....now this is the important part, so pay close attention....YOU DON'T BELONG. You won't fit in so save yourself and everyone else the time and energy. Good luck to you, I really hope you grow up and I mean that.

The list for who is attending the 79th RTT came out today and every Barracks gets a copy of the names. I don't think it will be very hard for anyone to really figure out who you are. I worked for the DOC and I still talk to the Staff at the Shirley Academy. Judging by your posts, it won't be too hard for the DI's to figure it out either. Remember, everything is fair game at the SPA. If they ask and you own up to it, well then that just creates all kinds of other unforeseeable issues for you to deal with. Damned if you do and Damned if you don't. By the way, didn't you get turned down and got in on an appeal?

Posted by: 40th MPOC#309

I'll bet he isn't even in the 79th....Just a shit-stirrer with a big spoon.

I can tell you right now. Make sure you have all the items on the list that was provided. Good luck to you people, and make sure to square your corners!!!!!

It's too bad this thread took a nasty turn, I started it as a joke, but some kook always has to prove his manhood by trash-talking things they know nothing about. No one has ever stated that the MSP academy is equivalent to BUDS training, I specifically posted in a previous thread that it was NOT as difficult as BUDS training.

But consider this; the MSP academy has a dropout rate of about 33%, giving it a much higher dropout rate than Army Basic Military Training (about 8%), or Marine Corp Recruit Training (about 16%). The reasons for dropouts are many; it could be family issues, a legitimate concern with average age of the MSP recruit being 27 whereas the average age for the Marine recruit is 18, lack of physical fitness or physical problems, or simply a desire to ecape a high-stress environment. There are no predictors that ensure success at the academy; former officers, former military of ALL branches (some combat veterans), marathon runners or muscle heads, and persons with law degrees have all quit the program. This is not a meant to scare anyone, it is statement of fact.

To those of you starting in the 79th, I have this advice for you:
-Keep your mouth shut....loose lips, sink ships.
-Assume nothing...no one attending the 79th can say "BTDT" with a straight face.
-Spend as much time with your family on weekend as you can... because come Monday you need to get your head in the game with no distractions.
-Don't let your "friends" drag you down...one moment of indiscretion on the rotten weekend can be your downfall.
-Getting to this point is a compliment to your character, but remember it ENTITLES you to NOTHING...the badge, boot & breeches are EARNED not given.

I truly wish those of you departing for New Braintree on Monday good luck!

Posted by: copcop

Forgive my ignorance but what is BUDS????

Posted by: kwflatbed

Best of luck to the 79th !!!!!

Posted by: Killjoy

BUD/S :Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training ; the brutally tough introductory school for recruits wishing to be SEALS. It is known for subjecting recruits to incredibly difficult physical tests, high mental stress, and sleep deprivation. In order to wear the coveted trident of a SEAL, this is the first step. Widely regarded as some the toughest training in any military branch.

Posted by: Piper

Good luck to all the guys starting in New Braintree on Monday, especially to the two officers who are from my PD. I know they will do well and will be missed at Roll Call.

(This thread did start as a total howl, too bad it went kind of south for a while there)

Already nice and cozy in B Troop. ..I also heard I will be seeing some of my "east" classmates soon.

Dogma wasn't asked to come Day One. If he is even on a list, its backfill at best. He must be extremely naive to think we don't already know who he is.....
