Firearms instructors question

Hey All,

I am attending the Firearms Instructors course at the New Bedford Academy in May. I was sent an email with a link about requirements of what to bring, but the link was a dead one. Does anyone know the course requirements? My department needs to know ASAP, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any assistance in this matter.

Respectfully,
Ogzee28

I am completing mine as we speak. We needed to bring duty gun, shotgun and patrol rifle. For ammo we needed 100 rds of .223, 800 of whatever caliber your gun is along with 100 rds of duty ammo, 100 shotgun. You will also need a vest, eye and hearing protection. That is pretty much what we needed, don't hold it against me if Newbedford requires more. If I was you I would give them a call. Good luck.

One guy brings a red plastic gun and the other is armed to take over Cuba?

Well I think the question was for the instructor class. Nuclearaudio class was most likely for the safety class to obtain your LTC. If you know of anyone that is being certified as an instructor in one night with a red gun let me know, it will be news to me considering one of the requirements is to shoot and qualify on a half a target. I think that the Committee would not certify you as an instructor in one sit down class, but stranger things have happened.

Umm, why not just call the academy?

Posted by: ogzee28

I did, Rose said she would try to get something together for me in a few weeks. My Chief and Dept. Instructor need to know to order my ammo. Thats why I asked here.

Thanks again,

If you're talking about the MPTC course at the Woodcock Range in Dartmouth, it is five days, over two weeks. Patrol Rifle and Shotgun at least 100 rounds each, and about 700+ rounds for your sidearm. Bring your Vest/eyes/ears/ and a positive attitude. Also they usually offer revolver certification for those who would like as an "option" (handy for teaching civilians)

Good range and the instructors there are great. I attended it last April and had a great time. Don't forget to dress warm, that classroom is very cold. Also, you are required to clean the weapons you shoot at the end of the day, so bring your cleaning gear.
