Any one know how long the Rhode Island Municipal Academy is, and if the mass police departments will accept that academy training. Thanks for all answers.

Rhode Island Academy is 16 weeks long held at the CCRI Lincoln campus. The Rhode Island academy is not accepted in MA.

I went through it 6 years ago...3 or 4 times a week you're there for 12 hours. It was accepted in Mass, I received a waiver from the MCJTC.

Sully, you on Boston PD yet with Mark?

Yes.

Another question for anyone who may know... Does Rhode Island accept the MPTC Recruit academy?

Posted by: sully161

Yes. But, you have to sit in on a Recruit Academy for the law, firearms sections of the class. You report in plain clothes. No PT, DT, etc.

Well DT you will have to do unless they changed it. When I was in the process for Pawtuckett I had a orentaion to the academy, I pulled the director aside and asked him about my Ma academy. He did say he has no problem with taking laterals. He said you WILL NOT be treated like a recruit, he said most likely you would just sit in the back of the room in dept uniform or plainclothes depending on what your dept wanted while the recruits were in the academy uniforms. He even eluded that it is nice having experienced cops in the class to offer insight for the students. But he also made it very clear to me that he wanted me to do DT, and he said PT went hand in hand with PT. Maybe it is different now, this was back in 2003.

He also you would be treated like a cop and not a recruit.
