A Houston police officer exchanged gunfire Friday morning with two thieves outside his north Harris County home, authorities told KPRC Local 2.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said two men followed the officer to his home in the 1300 block of Flat Rock Creek near Rush Creek and attempted to steal his pickup truck at about 3:43 a.m.
Investigators said the officer was assaulted in front of his home as he fought off and exchanged gunfire with the thieves, but he did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said the robbers fled, possibly in a white Dodge Neon.
The Houston Police Department is also investigating the incident.
