I've been on the NYPD for about 2 years now and am disappointed with almost everything I've seen on this department. My fiancé is from Mass and I am willing to head back there with her. What’s the story with getting a municipal job, or any L.E. Job for that matter in Mass? Where would I start, a state exam? Or do counties offer exams, or individual towns or what? I have no idea and would love some guidance.
Thank you for your time
Pete

Look to southern NH as you would be a certified transplant...Open testing processes and lots of vacancies, decent money and I would guess better than what you get now..IE Manchester, Nashua, Londonderry, Pelham to mention a few (these PDs have been and are pretty much hiring now). And these PD's hop due to size or simple geography as in they are all either city or suburban communities..In Mass. you will get tied down for the most part because of the civil service system which is a state test and prefers by rule established residents and veterans. Very tough for a certified out of state guy, very tough..There are many non civil service PDs in Mass. but few are at a level of pay or benefit that the CS system PDs are at and are pretty much swarmed when they do hire...Other than MSP, which is a separate test all together...Good Luck...

Try Manchester, New Hampshire... they are hiring, the pay is much better then you were getting in NYPD, excellent bennies... and as was said earlier, your academy will be accepted by the NHPSTC... more then a few officers on MPD are former NYPD.
