There would be no point in having a new test if the old list was kept. My vote is for the Sgt....

exactly, what be the point of having another test? if that was the case with the way the MSP works you'd be in the trooper academy 7 years after you took the test. can u imagine having to only take one test?

"A plethora of pinatas"? What movie?...Anyone know? Anyone?

But seriously jasonbr,
The old list won't be scrapped until a new list has been 'certified', so to speak...
which only means that you have to let the Question/Appeal Process exhaust itself first.
Only then are the new scores deemed, 'Official' and the old list gets shit-canned.

So, hypothetically...they could take another class off of the old list, even after new test scores have been released, but not yet certified. Hope that helps, good luck.

As MallCop said there is no Cert. for the State Police. They administer there own exam, they have no connection with Mass. HRD/Civil Service. I am sure one of the MSP guys on here will give you the facts but I am pretty sure there list is not certifed. Just my though.

yea, i counted on the sgt being right. At the time i told the guy he must be mistaken so i just wanted to make sure i wasn't setting myself up to look like an idiot. Thanks for the input - jason

hey thats even better, I guess, does the MSP take as long to release test scores? waiting for that list CS list ot cert is a pain.

Civil Service administers the exam for organizational and announcement purposes. We decide when to give an exam, based on funding from the Legislature. There are many misconceptions about the funding aspect. It cost us a pretty penny to administer the exam. We have to pay a contractor to come up with a test, a location to administer the exams, monitors and OT for the Troopers who work the exam. We break pretty much even with the collection of the fees from the exam. Civil Service also gets a slice as well. That is one of the reasons why it takes a while to administer a new test. More people take the Civil Service exams than the MSP, so Civil Service generates more revenue and therefore can administer an exam every two years. The selection process is paid for by the cities and towns, not the state or Civil Service. We must pay for the test as well as the selections process. We then certify and administer the scores. You cannot get a copy of the list as you can with Civil Service. I would say the earliest for a new test would be Fall 2006. More than likely, it will be in Spring 2007. Once the new test is given, unless there is a class being processed for the SPA, the current list is scrapped, except for Veterans who had to defer due to Military commitments. They are automatically carried over to the new list with their respective scores. The 79th RTT will start on April 3, 2006. There was no funding for an 80th RTT, and word is that it does not look too promising. Unless a sup. budget includes it, chances are that the 80th RTT will come off the new list.

And that is a good thing the test is given every two years, or else I would not have a job and still stuck with the rotten 93 I got the first time I took it. Yeah, and the state police section on this board would be clogged with threads like... "Did they get to the 73's yet"
