(Click here to view the original thread on the MassCops Message Board)

Hi all, just wodnering if anyone could lend some insight as to what kind of dress is required for the Reserve Academy. I'm assuming it's dress shirt/tie/pants but just wanted to check, as I am hoping to attend the next academy in Plymouth. Thanks for any info!!

For the Agawam Reserve Academy we had to buy a navy blue polo shirt (also had to buy a patch and have it sewn on the breast), Khaki Dickies with a black military style belt and wore black shined military issue boots. Not sure if it is the same out East though.

careful now, I think he meant to sew it on THE SHIRT

NERPI had no dress code in '92.

Dress up nice for the first day and go from there.

Alot of instructors from alot of departments teach at some of these academies...it might be a good idea to "dress to impress" each time. Let everyone else dress like a mope.

94c-Haha thanks for the laugh. I didn't even catch that when I typed it up.

I heard a couple years back it was courtroom attire for the Agawam reserve classes but people abused it and slacked off, therefore they went to the uniform.

bro u gotta wear a suit like this!

Plymouth was shirt and tie...for most of us. Except saturdays was casual but most came in black on black bdu's or khaki 5.11's

In Boylston we wear business casual. Most of the guys wear button up shirts or polos and the ladies wear collared shirts, sweaters, etc. Just look professional and you should be fine. The dress code was sent to us in Rules and Regulations. Good luck with the academy...have FUN!!!

NERPI last year was docker type pants for the most part, absolutely no jeans. We had golf shirts with the logo on it. Had a lot of essex county guys so they were in uniform, anyone else could do that as well. By the last couple weeks most people were wearing the golf shirt with BDU's or cargo pants.

You're hoping to attend, or are attending? [-o<

Thanks for all your replies everyone, that's basically what I figured we'd have to wear.

Wryman, I will be attending, as soon as I can get down and have a Chief/ranked officer sign the app. Luckily I believe I've found a department thats willing to send people w/o all the hassle of " I'd love to but the liability..."

Very true, also only bring water because coffee is a "diuretic".

Most academies are business casual. Just wear a shirt and tie look and act professional and take notes. If they want you to buy a uniform for the class then i am sure it will be posted on their website.

Dress in french style speedos, cut of shirt showing your stomach and scandals. When you get there tell them your name is Sergio!

Seriously though, my department just got a letter stating that in service officers should be dressed in business attire or police uniform. no tee shirts, jeans, sneakers or jock straps nor push up bras. individuals arriving not dressed in a professional manner we be ask to leave.

I guess they did not like the stop snitching tee shirt I had on

I'm currently in Fairhaven Reserve Training and the dress is business-like, for men that would be shirt and tie and all that jazz....=)
