Does Boston or other city or town departments have a mandatory retirment age? If so, is it 65?

Would this be per a state law or city rules?

State law for local police is 65.

Do you, or anyone else, know if this limit kicks in exactly when you turn 65? Is there any leaway, in other words do you have to a few weeks after you reach 65 to wrap things up?

Also does anyone know which statute states this. So far I think it may be some section of G.L. c. 32, but I am not sure and I do not know which section.

Any more help with this would be appreciated.

The laws are all over the place on this. Take a look at MGL C. 32 S. 85 / C. 32 S. 85E and C. 32 S. 90
