BOSTON -- A New Hampshire day-care worker was accused Thursday of sexually assaulting two young children who were in his care.
NewsCenter 5's Jim Boyd reported that Shane Vadney, 22, was charged with assaulting two 4-year-old girls at the Circle of Learning Day Care in Nashua, N.H. Officials said that there may be more victims.
Police said that the case came to light when officials received one report of a sexual assault. During the course of the investigation, several other victims came forward saying they had been abused, officials said.
The assaults allegedly took place at the day-care center, where Vadney was employed as a teacher's assistant. He's charged with 25 counts of assaulting two girls from January until his arrest.
"Mr. Vadney is considered to be an extreme danger to the community because of the nature of the crimes and against whom they were committed -- children," prosecutor Tim Goulden said.
Vadney tried to plead guilty to four misdemeanor charges at his arraignment on Thursday, but Judge Ned Gordon entered not guilty pleas on Vadney's behalf until Vadney could talk to his lawyer. In addition to the misdemeanors, Vadney was charged with 21 felonies.
If convicted, Vadney could be sentenced to life in prison. Vadney was held on $1 million bail. Copyright 2006 by TheBostonChannel. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
