I was wondering if anyone had any information about the Stoughton auxiliary police department. Such as if they carry or not, have any powers, or paid details. Also if they have a good relationship with the full time Officers. Any information would be appreciated. Thank You.

They are specials (they have full powers). They carry. I believe they DO get details.

I would try to stay away from Stoughton... last I heard they were having some in house problems.

I thought that everything in Stoughton was ok now after 3 or 4 officers including the chief were removed/replaced. Is there another problem with the Stoughton Police Department or is it still from all the previous problems?

If you like working like an amoeba, being watched microscopically closely.

This is a seprate incident nothing to do with how the deppartment is to work for. It depends on who you talk to in the department about how the place is.

Sorry, my error. I got it mixed up. I was referring to Stoneham Auxiliary. Not sure about Stoughton.

I know they do carry, glocks i believe and patrol on weekends in the paddywagon. I do not know if they have their own cruisers. and they do have paid details.

They do get issued Glocks and all other gear except for duty belt. On the weekend all they do is Friday and Saturday night they sit in the center of town (in the van) and make sure doors are locked and now recently they have started going to every school to make sure there are no problems. They do NOT respond to calls or transport prisoners, it all depends on the OIC as to what they get to do besides door checks (not much). They can get on a detail list but they are the last called after F/T and out of town lists have already been called. There are some good guys (DOC, F/T Fire FIghters) but other than that you get a a lot of whackers, who don't know too much. When I was in high school they just happen to be at a football game, fight breaks out between 3 kids they (6 of them) had no idea what to do, F/T officers had to come from across the field to handle it. I know there has been some talk of getting rid of them, but too bad for small town politics. I am not an auxie. in Stoughton I know a few good guys from there and I have seen them in action so this is where I get my info. Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes.

I saw an auxiliary officer working a detail at the big shoe outlet they have down there. I can only assume that he was getting paid.

I have seen a few of Stoughton's Auxiliary Officers, and they have all looked very professional.

Yes they do carry.

Yes they do get paid for details, but they are last in line for details after retired guys and out of town guys. They how ever do not get paid to do door checks in the center on Friday and Saturday nights. Most are professional like I said (DOC, F/T Fire Fighters) but some are complete whackers.

I'm on the Stoughton Aux. police. I don't know of any " Whackers" on the deparment.
We work over 4,000 hr a year free to the town. Most every one gets along with with the reg. dept.

You have about twenty hard working officers. Most of them put in a lot of free time to the town of Stoughton. Some live in the some don't, We work free every weekend, and love it. Most of the time we check the schools, doors downtown, and help when needed.
