The Soboleski family has kept all of the news clippings about the night in 1991 when Houston Police Sgt. Bruno Soboleski was killed in the line of duty.

Sgt. Bruno Soboleski was killed in the line of duty in 1991.
His daughter Mallorie was only 6 years old.
“I just wish he was here to teach me things and help me with problems I have and just be there to talk to,” she said.
Soboleski’s killer is on death row.
Another man, Christopher Coleman, who pleaded guilty to firing shots at the sergeant during the same incident, is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Coleman has been up for parole three times, and three times he’s been denied.
Soboleski’s loved ones said it’s the power of the pen.
“Learning through others that helped out petitions are great, letters are even better to help out,” said Stefanie Soboleski, his daughter. “So we’ve done that every time.”
Coleman is up for parole again, and Mallorie, who is now of voting age, can collect signatures herself.
Even though her father was a Houston Police officer, she thought it would be a good idea to get signatures from the police department in Corpus Christi, the city where she goes to college.
She said she asked for acting Chief Ken Bung and got his answer from another officer.
“He basically told him to tell me that the incident happened in Houston, and they didn’t know anything about it and their signatures wouldn’t influence anything,” Mallorie said.
“I think I was shocked,” widow Sue Soboleski said. “It was just unbelievable to me that a police department would not help us in this fight. I just don’t understand it.”
On its Web site, the Corpus Christi Police Department has pictures of its fallen officers.
No one from the department returned phone calls or e-mails.
The Soboleskis continue their fight, with or without the Corpus Christi Police Department.
