"SCAMLEC" Eddie Flynn takes a hike. See Ya!

Sec. Of Public Safety Ed Flynn is leaving office to become head of Springfield's embattled department. Good! Don't let the door hit you in the ass your lordship. He was the worst thing to ever happen to the state police.
Under his tenure, the state police were pushed aside in lieu of charging head long into the regionalization idea. Calls that the state police, who've incidently been around for 140 years, handled were meted out the the newly formed regional teams while the MSP were eschewed altogether. Often times, not even a courtesy call was made. Many federal dollars meant for anti-terrorism were funneled away from the MSP and given to the regional teams to start units having nothing to do with terrorism, like accident recon and woodland search & rescue. These were responsibilities handled well by the MSP for many years. Why was the MSP suddenly not good enough?
I blame Flynn for creating an "Us" vs "Them" attitude between the state and local police and sheriff's departments, who should be guarding jails and transporting prisoners.
As far as him going to Springfield, well, I'm not so petty as to wish him failure there. It's a tough city with many crime and internal problems that need to be resolved for the citizens there. The MSP has had a good relationship with SPD for a long time. Let's see if he works to keep it that way. rhl

Posted by: Clouseau

He got himself a nice raise, nice contract.

So who's next?

I'm hearing Jajuga.

Posted by: THE RP

Jajuga...Of course, thats great....A guy who had no problem betraying his former brothers by trying to take away details...Don't ever forget that....Another guy who will say or do anything to pander to the Boston Globe so he can advance his political future....I am sure he will do wonders in that position.... At least wonders for his own gain...I vote NO THANKS and he can go and run his flag man business...

Posted by: sylvester

the S P STOP has giving our department. and I assume, many other local police departments annual or at least regular trainining in rapid response to active shooter situations. The STOP members seem like humble yet knowlegeable people. We all liked them and appreciate their help. We are far busier than any other municipality in our area- but would call SP STOP if we need help. They are very competant and experienced... why the need for duplicity... ? Be honest and pragmatic.. do you REALLY think there are so many dire situations where, or near, you work to justify forming more teams...? I don't - I'd rather have that squandered tax money back in my pay check to pay my bills and support my family. MSP STOP is ok in my book.

Posted by: 94c

Has Anyone Ever Looked Into Jajuga's Connection To Flag Men?

Posted by: SinePari

The local news story said that the city paid an agency to conduct a nation-wide search for a new commish and the price tag was $45,000!

Hmmm, nation-wide search, and they found someone on Beacon Hill....well, that's 45-large that the city has spent well...no wonder they're broke.

"Us" vs "Them" attitude between the state and local police and sheriff's departments, who should be guarding jails and transporting prisoners.

RHL, There you go stating what has been said hundreds of times, re the Sheriff's. Get over it. We all need to just all work together. Put your BS power trip aside and let work together.

Sure! We'll work together. Police can arrest criminals and Sheriffs can guard them. Period.

I love how that rhymes!

Posted by: rhl

Hey 1122, I don't mind if we all work together as long as everyone works within the confines of what they've signed up to do. As for getting over it? As long as there is someone who is trying to backdoor their way into my job and put me out of business, I will never get over it! By the way, is it true that the Springfield PD union was gonna picket Lord Eddie's press conference announcing his move and Lord Eddie move it up two hours and ORDERED troopers to be present? Anyone got the skinny on this? rhl

Posted by: USMCTrooper

Eddie arrived sans security a little before 2pm. Some Eve shift were asked if they would come in early on OT of course, and any spare parts were sent to City Hall. There were close to 20 uniformed Troopers including Troop CO, XO, 6 LT's and 1 Sgt. This is excluding the Governor's detail and another 1/2 dozen plainclothes Troopers. Even though I was there, I am still unclear as to who actually made the call to have the conference in the Mayor's Office.

However, this is fact: Access to that section of City Hall was totally blocked from all levels including the elevator. The rear of the building was barricaded and blocked with cruisers to prevent anyone from gaining access to the Governor as he arrived.

So was it Eddie or the Governor that was being protected? The latter. When the Troops pulled out, Eddie was in the Mayor's Office talking to the Press where by now anyone and everyone could have entered. The Governor.......was long gone.

Posted by: Wolfman

I thought I heard clucking from City Hall...

Posted by: MSP75

It is amazing who they call for protection as they stab that same agency in the back. When the shit hits the fan, they know who to call.

Posted by: rhl

Wait a second!!! USMC, Did you say some troopers were there on OT? WTF? Sometimes we can't get one extra patrol to stay on OT in a snow storm at rush hour or get a couple hours to do a good invest. Yet, they pay OT for that? Zoinks and Jinkies Scooby! rhl

Posted by: THE RP

To think that that clown chose to surround himself with troopers instead of the officers of the department he was chosen to lead at the city hall of the city where his officers work is truly despicable. No offense to the troopers. I hope they were all there on OT but the arrogance of it all was nothing but a slap to the Springfield cops...Governor or no Governor, how many Springfield guys were invited to this dog and pony show never mind detailed to work it...Unbelievable..

Posted by: bbelichick

He wanted the Troopers were there to PROTECT him from the guys he was supposed to "lead".

Posted by: THE RP

I get it coach but thats a hell of way to kick off your administration...Must have sat through some interesting leadership seminars.

Posted by: MSP75

He was no friend of the MSP and that made some local PD leaders happy. Now he will show his true colors on the municipal level. Beware SPD and don't let your brass sell you out as they make their political moves.

Posted by: k9sheriff

Maybe now the MSP will be able to obtain funds to conduct monthly training for law enforcement agencies like they use to.I know that the k9 training was excellent and something that I looked forward to every month.

Posted by: MSP75

Intra-agnecy training is always a great thing when politics and the money games are left out of the equation. There will always be some rubbing of egos (it is part of LE), but it is all in fun.

Posted by: 2-Delta

Anyone see the Fox25 News report last night "Behind the Badge"? It started with footage from the MSP 77th RTT then went into NEMLEC training footage. I started thinking about some people on this board and I laughed out loud.

Posted by: SinePari

I saw it. It must have been a slow news day, showing all that po-po training and cool-guy stuff. It actually made my seasonal-affectional-disorder intensify when I saw the sunny days and warm waters...thanks a lot Fox 25!

Speaking of the MS Stop team. didn’t that trooper who just got bagged diddling boys run one of the teams?

I wonder if spam with be forwarding that in there next letter to all the town admin and selectmen in the commonwealth as they recently did trying to drum up support to squash the LEC's.. That'd probably go over about as well as the first letter did. The LEC's owe the SP a debt of gratitude, they’re arrogance has all but solidified LEC's in the Metro Boston area. If they spent as much time working with locals as they do bashing them they’d be the only game in town but that wouldn’t be the SP’s way. Nope they’re going to spread venom and half-truths about a topic most don’t fully understand and in the end they bit of their nose to spite thier face; fools…But thanks, we appreciate it. See you on the way to the next call. Can't wait for the wity embellished responses.

We are forming our own entry team within the department I work for. I for one have had the opportunity to train with members of the S.T.O.P. team as they assisted us with our training. I have the upmost respect for these guys as they were helpful, knowledgeable and first class people. Then again where I work, they know what we encounter on a daily basis, so there was no elitist attitudes by either department. Members of their unit have assisted us in the past and will in the future, so we will always have a working relationship.

As for the Lec's, a few of the neighboring departments have officers on the Lec's and these guys are squared away both physically and mentally. I for one believe the petty animosity of the State Police S.T.O.P. teams and the LEC's will alway be there, but as noble felon once said, " Can't we all just get along."

Really? Is that why Boston PD is suing and publicly condemning the LEC's? Because they are "solidified"?

What are the LEC's going to do without big daddy Flynn to watch their back?

Without the Federal money, the local towns will not pick up the slack and the LEC's will be gone.

Posted by: popo50

bballick, your arguments regarding LEC's are not only based on misinformation but they are as see through as the glass house you live in. Sadly people like you speak for you masses and give every solid trooper a bad rap. You hide behind the curtain and stir trouble and keep things going for your own personal motives and opinion. Rather than speak or learning the truth you need to use embellished or untrue examples, 3rd party info and other agency (i.e. Boston PD or I heard a guy got stopped for speeding to a call)to validate your arguement, but you truly know very little about what you are talking about. You just throw sh@! at the wall and see what sticks. Either way this goes in the future you should be ashamed of the message and image you reflect on you're agency, allot of guys work hard on both sides to be good at what they do, you seem to just talk. As you love to quote--why don't you look at "your" sleeve and notice the word "police" on that patch and realize what is we are all doing. Maybe later today when you get home from your detail you can take some time to think it over, we'll be busy training for the next call. Unfortunately, you’re to far gone to change/adapt to modern policing. So like many before you, you'll be left behind. Your membership should see the writing on the wall and put a gag order on your kind before you really irritate the masses and the state police gets renamed the mass highway patrol.

Again, the LEC's owe you and your kind a debt of gratitude.
Thanks for all your help, keep up the good work.

Posted by: bbelichick

OK, "Popo". You changed your name now?

I know the truth, I know first hand about LEC's getting stopped for RECKLESS driving on State roads.

I also now that Boston PD is suing because LEC SCABS worked for less money and Boston didn't hire the BPD guys in their own city.

Work in your own City or Town. If you don't like it, take the MSP test. Stop taking the easy way.

I don't work Details, by the way.

Nice 2 post wonder...I wonder if this really is "Popo" because he certainly has some things to answer for.

Posted by: popo50

Although I’d like to take credit for someone else’s work popo is another post'er, i see he's going along the same line. Why would he need to 1st-change his name, 2nd-change it to soemthing similar if he's being sneaky to try to trick the every vigilant bballicker.

Hey, if I was on BPD I’d want the union to sue as well, they deserve their money, I along with the hundreds of locals that helped out did it for the same reason the state did and Boston for that matter. That was a big operation, which you'd know if you weren't busy blocking an intersection. Even if BPD fully mobilized they wouldn't have had enough help, period, that’s a fact.

The suit is over money, and they should get their due. You can make it into whatever you want, but that’s the facts.

As far as answers go bballess, my issue is with your types, the big talk no action guys, I have troopers that I consider good friends, we joke and argue LEC v. state from time to time but in the end I’d have their back and they'd surely have mine. Trouble makers like you are always identified and hated behind the scenes as I’m sure you are. I'm neither afraid nor intimidated by you BS, I see pissants like you all the time and relish when they are regularly dismissed by the peers. You are a disgrace to the law enforcement community; it's you who has a lot of answering to do.
What we do improves quality of life and the public’s safety, what you do is throw stones and embarrass you agency every time you open your mouth.

Thanks for everything.....hope to see you soon.

You do nothing of the kind. The LEC's are duplicative, wasteful and a joke. How may guys on your department? nine? Ten? No wonder you have to do other people's jobs to feel special.

Your "Trooper friends" that "joke" about the LEC's?

They think the same way.

I notice you have a homosexual fetish, you like to talk about balls and such. You should sit down with a little self-evaluation and figure out why.

If the LEC's didn't offer to work for the cheap then Boston wouldn't have to sue.

BPD's Union will be publicly condemning the LEC's.

Note that I respect local Police that work hard in their cities and towns. When a local Officer starts joining Statewide or Regional teams to do what the MSP already does, ie Recon, Detectives, SWAT, etc...Now you are being a Scab. Many on this Forum like to refer to "poaching calls", like MSP guys going to their calls...Well, then what are the LEC's all about?

Posted by: popo

Actually Dickhead, he is not me, so do your homework. You must be a SPAM rep for your barracks as you never leave the station and work the road. POPO means COP in the streets if you don't know, but how can you know as all the shit stirrers from MSP on this board are stationed west of Springfield.

My popo, what has soured you so? It seems like just yesterday (or was it last April) you were eagerly awaiting the opportunity to become a Trooper, saying:

I got a 97 and I deferred twice and waiting for the 79th. There are many with 97s and 98s because of the updated vets points. I know four more officers on local pds with 97s that are waiting for the 79th through deferement.
...and you seemed quite opinionated when you perceived that Sheriffs were doing your work...

I literally laughed out loud when I read that. In another post, you ask how many officers are on someone's department (nine? ten?), as if you're attempting to shit on them. I have news for you, my man, the uniformed MSP around here is the equivalent of a small-town department, because there are always only two, maybe three, cruisers on the road out of each barracks. So, when we have to eat your accidents & calls on state roads/highways when your guys are tied-up, are we scabs then?

BTW....please use the term "scab" correctly. If a local department hires overtime specifically to run radar on a state road, that would be an example of a scab. If a local department goes to another city or town at the request of that city or town, that's not being a scab.

Also, we didn't go to Boston for the DNC. Our participation was limited to an agreement to take radio calls in Dorchester, under mutual aid, should it be necessary, which it wasn't.

Just curious, since when are these duties assigned specifically to the MSP? Is this something new? Any city or town can do whatever they please, enter into mutual aid agreements with whatever agency they want. MSP is screwing up big time, because the Sheriffs are now joining LECs and are very receptive to the Chief's wishes. You guys had your chance to join and play with locals but refused and still do, therefore like POPO50 stated, old dinosaurs will fade away. Like I stated in previous posts, I am not a member of any LEC and neither is my PD, but I do support my brothers and sisters fully.

BTW, Being a scab is working in a city or town that layed off officers.

Do you "work the streets" in your 10 man department?

Or are you busy with your "other job"?

You must be, because you keep bringing it up.

So now you're "too much of a man" to go through an RTT, because you were rejected?

Maybe you were afraid that the background check would find out about your side business?

When ordered in by the Governor, Sec of Public Safety and Colonel, the Troopers have NO choice.

LEC guys volunteer to run around and pretend to be State Police.

If a Police Officer that was not hired by a Town or City goes into another City or Town to perform police duties not related to Mutual Aid, they are performing Statewide duties of the MSP. They are scabs.

Wow, I thought popo only ranted on about how much he hates all of the sheriff's departments.I guess he's expanding his hatred.I know some k9 officers from various departments that are sick of nemlec and will only go to trainnig if forced to.I don't know why they list the sheriff's departments on their web sites as members, because I know one of them does absolutely nothing with them when it comes to training. As for middlesex I'm sure it has to do with accsess to all of the toys. You don't seee any membership stickers on the cars.I've heard they are considered associate members(whatever that means).Personally I could care less.I just hope the MSP revives the monthly training they use to offer like I mentioned in another post.

I'd suggest you look up "paraphrase" in a dictionary, but based on your third grade spelling skills and cub-scout level investigative skills, allow me to do it for you:

Main Entry: 1para·phrase
Pronunciation: 'par-&-"frAz
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle French, from Latin paraphrasis, from Greek, from paraphrazein to paraphrase, from para- + phrazein to point out
1 : a restatement of a text, passage, or work giving the meaning in another form

If you truly feel capable of using a dictionary, here are some more words to look up:
