NORFORK, Ark. - A teenager accused of going on a rampage at a Massachusetts gay bar with a hatchet and a gun was in a Missouri hospital Saturday after two shootings in northern Arkansas that resulted in the death of a police officer and a woman accompanying the wounded teen, state police said.

Jacob D. Robida, 18, was transported to a hospital at Springfield, Mo., after an exchange of gunfire with police in Norfork, according to state police spokesman Bill Sadler.

Sadler identified the slain officer as Jim Sell, a member of the Gassville police force. Sadler said he did not know the name of the woman who died in the gunfire at Norfork.

Robida was wanted in the attack Thursday at Puzzles Lounge in New Bedford, Mass., that left three men wounded, one critically.

Police have labeled the attack a hate crime and said Robida would be charged with attempted murder, assault and civil rights violations.

Feb 4, 2006 (AP)— A teenager accused of going on a rampage at a Massachusetts gay bar with a hatchet and a gun was in a Missouri hospital Saturday after two shootings in northern Arkansas that resulted in the death of a police officer and a woman accompanying the wounded teen, state police said.

Listening to the news tonight, they were saying that murdering an officer is a capitol offence, and he probably will never make it back here to stand trial. Either way I hope the assbag doesn't make it and he is suffering for his wounds I type this.

Officials: Teen suspect in Mass. gay bar attack kills police officer, woman in Arkansas

GASSVILLE, Ark. (AP) --- Two days after a violent rampage at a gay bar in Massachusetts, authorities said the teen suspect fled 1,500 miles to Arkansas where he fatally shot a police officer and a 33-year-old woman.

Jacob D. Robida, a high school dropout who friends said glorified Naziism, was shot twice in the head in a gun battle with police Saturday, officials said. He was critically injured.

After Thursday's hatchet-and-gun attack at Puzzles Lounge in New Bedford, Mass., which injured three people, police said the 18-year-old fled in a green Pontiac and picked up Jennifer Rena Bailey, at her Charleston, W. Va., home.

"Apparently she's had a prior relationship with this guy and had been corresponding with him," said West Virginia State Police Sgt. C.J. Ellyson.

They were driving through the northern Arkansas town of Gassville when Officer Jim Sell pulled them over for a traffic stop. The teen twice shot Sell, 56, said Massachusetts prosecutor Paul Walsh Jr.

Witness Maryann Hoyne said she saw the officer's squad car bumper to bumper with Robida's car, and heard three gunshots. Sell was on the ground and Robida got back into his car and drove off, she said.

Robida returned a moment later to retrieve his gun, which he had left at the side of the officer, said Hoyne, manager of the Brass Door Motel in Gassville.

About 25 miles away, Robida drove over spike strips set out by state troopers and drove with two punctured tires into downtown Norfork. Robida's car then careened into several parked vehicles to avoid a police barricade.

"When he wrecked he started firing at our officer and a state police officer, and the officers returned fire," said Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery.

The teen shot the woman in the car with him before he was wounded in the shootout with police, Walsh said. State police wouldn't confirm Walsh's account and said ballistics tests would determine how the woman died.

Robida was taken to a Springfield, Mo., hospital, according to Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler.

One victim of the Massachusetts attack -- which police have called a hate crime -- said he was "elated" the teen had been apprehended.

"Right now I'd like him to be able to regain consciousness and answer some questions," said Bob Perry, who was released from a Boston hospital Friday. He had a black eye, a five-inch gash on his right cheek and a bullet hole in his back.

Another victim remained hospitalized, and officials would not disclose the location of the third. Police said Robida would be charged with attempted murder, assault and civil rights violations in the attack

You know- this leads to an interesting hypothetical question- You're assigned to the hospital to watch a critically injured prisoner who has just killed another cop. It's three am and there's no one in the room but you and the sh**bird. Suddenly you notice that the sh**bird's oxygen tube, IV line, or whatever is kinked, disconnected, unattached, etc. If it's not corrected, the sh**bird will die. What would you do? (No fair pinching or disconnecting the tube yourself)

Officer Sell was 56 years old and a retired full-timer. He took the part-time job to keep his police certification. He worked the weekend shifts. We should all be so blessed to work with someone so honorable and dedicated. God Bless you, brother. Rest in peace.

What do I know. I just sit and keep reading the stacks of magazines that I brought. Drink some coffee, Talk on my cell phone. even though I know that we are not suppose to and if at some point the shit bag dies well I did my job he did n't get away.

NEW BEDFORD — Funeral services were held Saturday for Jacob D. Robida, and the 18-year-old's body was buried in a private ceremony.

The teen's 69-year-old paternal grandmother, Jeanne, said yesterday the arrangements were with the Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home.

Mr. Robida went on a rampage which began Feb. 1 when he shot and slashed three patrons at Puzzles Lounge, a New Bedford gay bar, in what authorities called a hate crime.

The teen fled and picked up his former girlfriend in Charleston, W.Va., and drove to Arkansas.During a routine motor vehicle stop, Mr. Robida shot and killed officer James W. Sell, a member of the Gassville, Ark., Police Department.

When surrounded by Arkansas police, the teen killed his former girlfriend and then himself.
