Whats up guys, I've been trying to find an answer through readin a lot of the threads, but I'm still a little confused. First off im 19 and wondering if I have to wait untill im 21 to take the exam? I heard that you could before, but from reading these threads it seems that you have to be 21 to be able to? Do you first have to fill out that lengthy application before being able to take the test? Last, I know its mostly speculation, but does anyone have a rough idea of when they will be accepting new applications/having a new test? Thanks a lot for whoever responds

Contact GHQ Human Resources for an in depth explanation of your above questions or go to the MSP website.

You have to be 21....NO application, only registration....The test will most likely be this year.

I see, how often do they give the tests? (when was the last one?) Im just trying to figure out where I'm going to fall in the process. I'll be 21 in November 2007

Last test was in 2001. They seemed to be on an every three year rotation for a new test so I would imagine one will be coming up withing the next year.

Actually, they gave the last exam in 2002. If it was in 2001 then wouldn't a new exam have been given last year?

I don't think they have a set schedule for exams, although the rumor used to be they tested every 4 years.

The last exam was held in June of 2002 and they are currently hiring off this exam. No one knows for sure when there will be another test( not even GHQ at this point), they still have to get through the 79RTT and possibly the 80RTT of this exam. They have too many qualified people at this point who are waiting to get into either the 79RTT or 80RTT to just give another exam. I doubt you will see another exam soon, at the very earliest in late of 2006/early 2007. There is no pattern on how often they administer the exam, it's not like the civil service where it goes every other year. The time frame is usually around every 4+ years for an MSP exam.

Thanks everyone for replying..Im just kinda trying to plan out my life at 19..I go to Bridgewater State right now studying Criminal Justice and I would have liked to be able to take the next SP exam but its probably going to fall before im 21. I think ill end up going the city/town pd route and take the SP exam when I'm eligible for it. Again thanks for all your replies though I appreciate it..Basically I would like to get on a department right when I get out, but If I have to dispatch for a while Im obviously willing to do that too. Anyone with any advice for me? Id appreciate anything, but dont tell me to join the service!

Keep up the good work BT1405 don't give up on your dream, stay clean, stay in shape and keep your eyes open for any opportunities!!! but the service is a very good option that you might want to consider.

^^ No I agree, its not like I dont want to serve my country or gain the experience, but there are too many kids being killed. For what? I mean this is a very very touchy subject so I dont really want to get into it. I have all the respect in the world for our troops serving over in Iraq/Afganistan/etc but I have no desire to be there, I know I can acheive my goal without enlistment.
