PEMBROKE —

Police said a Birch Street resident reported the theft at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The resident’s daughter had ridden to the bogs off Birch Street to go for a jog, and when she returned from the run, her bicycle was gone, police said.
Police said witnesses saw a man ride off on the bicycle. They found the bicycle at a house on Chapel Street, where the man witnesses had described and another man were visiting.
Police charged Paul Macomber, 45, of 7 Forest Ave., Plymouth, with larceny over $250. He also was arrested on an unrelated warrant. Macomber was later released on bail.
When an officer went to question the other man, he gave a false name, police said. Police later learned that he was Charles Haddigan, 43, a Level 3 sex offender. Police said they learned that Haddigan was homeless and lived in Brockton but had not registered as a sex offender.
Police charged Haddigan with a third offense of failing to register as a sex offender and with giving a false name. He is being held on $5,000 bail. He was taken to Jordan Hospital for a pre-existing illness.
