    • Patrols campus buildings and adjacent areas
    • Investigates crimes or other incidents restraining or arresting suspects when necessary
    • Provides assistance to courts in prosecution of cases performs related work as
    required to ensure and maintain a secure campus environment QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Possession of a Valid MA Class 3 Motor Vehicle Operators license
    • Eligibility for appointment as a special Police Officer under MGL 22C Sec. 63
    • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
    • One year of full-time law-enforcement or related experience in campus
    environment preferred
    • Graduate of the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Academy, Basic Reserve
    intermittent training or equivalent preferred
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to details are essential
    • Extensive background investigation will be conducted
    • Ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population

    SALARY: WEEKLY/$615.79 ANNUAL/$32,021.08

      They work in Charlestown and there's an MBTA station adjacent to the campus, why would they ever need guns?

      Another point, the Middlesex Jail in Cambridge is WAY too far away from the campus (about 1/2 a mile or so) and we all know prisoners, when/if they escape stay as far from a college campus as they can get, ESPECIALLY Community Colleges! It's just too academic for them!

      The officers are being robbed every payday. The least you could do is arm them.

      No state school's cops are getting the pay they deserve, but at least at UMass there's a good reason. There's no money left after the President got his raise! Now he can buy a summer house in Italy to escape the rigors of his Presidential duties while UMass cops (and most employees for that matter) are lucky to KEEP their houses at all.

      worked for umass , and let me tell you the pay/benefits doesnt work out to well...i think they are under paid and the benies arnt worth that much

      We were told that we were gonna get a good pay raise. I have not seen a penny yet. And the contract was approved.

      My time at UMass was great. The pay needed some work, but I liked the benefits. I'm not sure if state bennies have been tampered with, if they have, SHAME ON WHOMEVER DID IT. Pay raises for all state and community college officers should be forthcoming.

      I actually liked the I-Teams report about community college presidents and the cars they drive at taxpayers expense. Well, only Roxbury Community College and North Shore's were abusing the system if I remember correctly. I have no problem with them getting a car, what the hell, but let's not go top of the freakin' line when you've got people working for you who are just getting by. Hypocracy at it's best!
