    Default 'Citizens arrests'

I have always thought the concept of a citizen's arrest is pretty amusing, and a good way to get hurt or killed, depending on who you're trying to arrest.

What do you actual police think about citizen's arrests? Is there something important and valuable about them that I'm missing?

Dumb idea, at least in this state.

If you really feel the need to intervene (a woman being beaten) then "detain" the suspect for the police, who will make the lawful arrest.

OK, Harley - give it to me straight and with feeling. Why are these troll questions?

Aren't you guys like, I don't know, flattered that a regular citizen wants your opinion on things that he's wondered about for a while?

Maybe you shouldn't have an open forum called "Ask a Cop."

Why not ban the public and call it "Ask Each Other?"

I realize you guys have an uneasy relationship with the general public, and have your reasons for that, but I seriously don't think anything I've posted should warrant all the abuse and accusations.

You're only proving the stereotype that police are overly touchy and grouchy people.

Is that what you want to do?

Like I said in another post -- if I wanted to really start some flame wars, I could ask questions that are way more inflammatory.

    Also I am NOT "Jimbo."

I think citizen's arrest are great. I like to arrest as many citizens as I can on any given shift. As for us being grouchy yes you are absolutely correct. When the media and general public beat you down for as long as you can remember you do get a little grouchy and touchy. As far as I am concerned everyone is a douche bag until proven otherwise.
